Chakras, our “subtle” body

The word Chakra comes from the Sanskrit word for wheel. In order to visualize the Chakras, we should imagine a wheel full of energy that vibrates and revolves around continuously. Many psychics can actually see our Chakras. They and other clairvoyants describe them as colorful wheels of rotating flowers having a hub in the center. Chakras are placed at the base of our spine and continue up, with the last one at very the top of our head. They are fixed in the spinal column but are in fact located both on the front and the backsides of our body, working their magic throughout.

Each one of our Chakras revolves and vibrates at their own speed. The first Chakra, which is at the base of the spine, moves at the slowest rate, with the seventh or crown Chakra having the highest speed. The size and level of brightness of the wheels vary depending on the individual’s energy level, their development, physical condition in terms of disease or the level of stress they’re under.

Each Chakra is energized by its own color as well as a complementary color. There is also an array of gemstones that influence each particular chakra that can be utilized for specific purposes. The colors that influence our Chakras are the rainbow colors of:

Red
Orange
Yellow
Green
Blue
Indigo
Pink or Violet

If our Chakras are out of balance with each other, or if their energies are somehow blocked, they simply slow down, which affects our life force. We can begin to feel listless, fatigued, out of sync and even depressed. This involves both our bodily functions, opening the door to illness and disease, but our mental state of mind as well. We can begin to have a negative mindset, which is symptomatic of depression, become fearful and full of doubt. This negativity can preoccupy our minds so that we become unhappy and cease to function optimally.

By continually having balance between our Chakras we can maintain good health and wellbeing. Energy from the universe is constantly flowing through our Chakras and if they are open too far, the person may end up inviting in too much universal energy and become short-circuited. On the other hand, if the Chakras are too closed off, there won’t be enough energy coming in to flow freely, which can end up causing a state of distress and invite disease.

Most of us put up our defenses in reaction to unpleasant experiences. We block our feelings, which effectively stops much of our natural energy from flowing. This protective mechanism affects how well our Chakras develop and mature. When a person acts to block whatever experience they may be having, they end up blocking their Chakras as well. This can eventually cause their Chakras to become distorted and disfigured. When are Chakras are fully developed and functioning well, each of them will be open and spinning clockwise. They will be metabolizing the specific energies we require from the universal energy field surrounding us.

As discussed earlier, any imbalance that may exist within any one of our Chakras can have significant effects upon us physically and emotionally. To combat this we can use quartz crystals and certain gemstones to bring our Chakric centers back into balance.  Once this is achieved our body and mind can begin to regain normal functioning.

Crystals and gemstones provide powerful healing effects due to what science refers to as their piezoelectric effect. If you look closely at the current quartz watches, you can actually see this. Crystals and gemstones have a way of responding to the electrical energy that courses through our bodies. If the flow of energy is sluggish, the continuous electrical vibrations emanating from the stones will help balance, harmonize and stimulate the flow of electrical energy.

 Seventh Chakra

The Crown Chakra

The seventh Chakra is known as the Crown Chakra. It is situated right behind the very top of the skull. It is our center for energy, spirituality, dynamic thought, and enlightenment. The Crown Chakra invites wisdom to flow in and bestows on us the capacity of cosmic consciousness. This where we are connected to God, where life is infused into the physical body. The silver cord connecting the aura bodies emanates from the Crown Chakra. This is where our soul enters our body at birth and from where it departs upon death.

When the Seventh Chakra is out of balance we may experience frustration, have no sense of joy and possess destructive feelings and tendencies. We may be prone to migraine headaches and even depression. When the Crown Chakra is in balance we may become open to the Divine and have complete access to our subconscious and unconscious minds. The main colors influencing the Crown Chakra are white and purple. Gemstones that can help open and balance the Crown are Amethyst, Oregon Opal, and Clear Quartz Crystal.

Sixth Chakra

The Third Eye

The sixth Chakra is known as the Third Eye or the Brow Chakra. It sits above our eyes right in the center of our forehead. This is where our psychic abilities, our higher intuition, and the energies of spirit and light are centered. The Third Eye also helps to purify any negative tendencies we may have and eliminate our more selfish attitudes. By tapping into the power of your sixth Chakra, you can welcome in guidance and channel your Higher Self.

When our sixth chakra is out of balance we may fear success, hesitate to assert ourselves and possibly go in the opposite direction and become egotistical. Physical conditions may include eyestrain, blurred vision and even blindness, as well as headaches. When we bring this Chakra into balance and open it up we are the master of our destiny, fearing no one, not even death. We detach from material things and may become telepathic, experience astral travel and even re-experience past lives. The main colors influencing the sixth Chakra are dark blue and purple. The gemstones that can help balance and open the Third Eye are Lapis Lazuli, Sodalite, and Amethyst.

Fifth Chakra

The Throat Chakra

The fifth Chakra is known as the Throat Chakra. It is positioned in the V of our collarbone at the base of the neck in the front. This is our center of communication, where the sound emanates from us, as well as creative expression through our thoughts, our speech, and writing. This is where the potential lies in terms of transformation, change and healing. The throat is where we store our anger and from where it finally gets released. When this Chakra is blocked or out of balance you maybe feel weak and timid, be inclined to hold back and not express or reveal your thoughts.

The physical conditions emanating from this can include skin eruptions, inflammations, sore throat, ear infections, and back pain. When the fifth chakra is in balance you may feel centered, inspired musically or artistically and might be considered a good speaker. The areas of the body affected by the fifth Chakra are the throat, ears, thyroid gland, neck, and teeth. The predominant color that influences this is light blue. The gemstones that can help in bringing the Throat Chakra into balance are Azurite and Aquamarine.

Fourth Chakra

The Heart Chakra

The fourth Chakra is known as the Heart Chakra. It is positioned behind the breastbone in front and situated on the spine in back, right between our shoulder blades. This is where our center of love is and where compassion and spirituality reside in us. This Chakra determines our ability to love ourselves and others, and our ability to give and receive love. The Heart Chakra is the center that connects our mind and body with spirit. In today’s world nearly everyone has been hurt, has a broken or hardened heart and so it’s not surprising that heart disease has become the number one cause of death in America today.

Deep hurts of the heart can cause obstructions in our aura called “heart scars”. Releasing these scars can bring up a lot of pain and hurts from the past, but finally freed the heart can heal and grow anew. When this Chakra is blocked or out of balance we can feel self-pity, unworthy of being loved, afraid to let go, fearful of getting hurt, wracked with indecision and even paranoia. Physical conditions can be high blood pressure, insomnia, difficulty breathing and result in a heart attack.

When the Heart Chakra is in balance we are friendly, compassionate, empathetic and even have a desire to be nurturing and caring of others. We tend to see the good in people we meet or come across.

The areas of the body influenced by the fourth Chakra include the heart, of course, the lungs, shoulders, upper back, and circulatory system. The main colors used to balance this Chakra are pink and green. Gemstones influencing the Heart Chakra are Watermelon Tourmaline, Kunzite and Rose Quartz.

Third Chakra

The Solar Plexus Chakra

The third Chakra is also known as the Solar Plexus Chakra and is situated two inches below our breastbone, right in the center and behind our stomach. This Chakra is the center of all personal power and where our ego is located. It contains our strength, passions, and impulses as well as our anger. This is also where our astral influences come into play for astral travel, our psychic development and the receptivity we have to our spirit guides or angels.

When the Solar Plexus Chakra is blocked or out of balance we can be confused and lacking in confidence. We may be preoccupied with what others think of us and even feel that they are in control of our life, which can lead to depression. Physical conditions may develop which could be food allergies, diabetes, digestive disorders, liver problems and even nervous exhaustion. When the third Chakra is in balance we are outgoing, full of confidence, cheerful and expressive and eager to take on new challenges. We possess a strong sense of our own personal power when this Chakra is open and balanced.

The body parts under the influence of the third Chakra are the stomach, pancreas, gall bladder and small intestine. The predominant color affecting this Chakra is yellow. The gemstones that have an influence are Yellow Calcite, Topaz, and Citrine.

Second Chakra

The Sacral Chakra

This Chakra is positioned two inches below our navel and is anchored in the spine. This Chakric center contains our basic sexual needs, as well as our intuition and creativity, plus our own self-confidence. The Sacral Chakra, also called Belly Chakra, is all about creativity, friendliness and emotional wellbeing. Our sense of self-worth is governed by the second Chakra, as well as our ability to interact and relate to others in a friendly open manner. It governs our confidence level in terms of our own creative abilities. The Sacral Chakra develops according to events and emotions experienced during childhood. Whether we were able to express our emotions freely or if they had to be repressed in order to survive in our family determines how well the Sacral Chakra functions.

Whether we are properly balanced in the Sacral Chakra will determine whether we can flow freely with our emotions and feel the freedom to approach others sexually or not. If the Sacral Chakra is blocked we can feel ready to explode emotionally, be manipulative of others, be obsessed with sexual thoughts or we may simply lack energy. With a blocked second Chakra we may manifest certain physical conditions like constipation, weak kidneys, tightness in our lower back, and muscle spasms.

The belly parts associated with this Chakra include (for women) our sexual organs, bladder, kidneys and large intestine. The main color influencing the second Chakra is orange. The gemstones that can help open and regain balance in this Chakra are Orange Calcite, Tigers Eye, and Carnelian Agate.

First Chakra

The Root Chakra

In studying our individual Chakras we start with the Root Chakra. In Sanskrit, this is referred to as the Muladhara. Our Root Chakra is situated at the base of the spine, right at the tailbone in back, and located at the pubic bone in the front. This Chakric center contains our basic needs so that we can survive and be safe and secure.

The Root Chakra has a powerful connection to Mother Earth, which helps us to be grounded here onto this plane of existence. The Root Chakra is the center of all manifestation. In life, we are all trying to achieve things, whether it is in business or in terms of material possessions. The energy to succeed and manifest what we want comes from our first Chakra. If this Chakra is somehow blocked we may become frustrated, insecure, anxious and even fearful. We may be prone to anorexia nervosa, obesity and problems with our knees.

The areas of the body associated with our Root Chakra are the lower back, legs, hips and our sexual organs. The colors utilized to balance this Chakra are black, brown and red. The gemstones that influence this Chakra are Obsidian, Black Tourmaline, Smoky Quartz, and Garnet.
